Derrick Xu 徐明垚 Curriculum Vitae
I am an applied microeconomist working in the fields of public and behavioural economics. My research focuses on the motives behind prosocial behaviour across different contexts, including charitable giving, climate change, and political division.
I enjoy using computer science tools to analyse non-traditional data, such as text and images from media, to uncover behavioural insights that help us better address social challenges.
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at WZB Berlin and will join the University of Southampton as an Assistant Professor in 2026. I completed my PhD at the University of Bristol under the supervision of Sarah Smith and Yanos Zylberberg.
